Episode Notes

It's more than just books at aadl.org!

HOBBIT DAY
Everybody loves BILBO and FRODO! September 22 is international Hobbit Day (the birthday of Bilbo and Frodo) and we wanted to get a jump on things by celebrating a day early, on Sunday September 21 at the Downtown Library with our own Hobbit Day Celebration. Crafts, games, and fun surprises. Dress up if you'd like! 1-2:30pm at the Downtown Library!

A2CAF SIP and DEAD MEDIA DAY
Putting these on your radar WAY in advance. Block Saturday, October 11 and Sunday, October 12 for back-to-back amazing festivals at the Library. First it's the return of A2CAF: Small + Indie Press. It's for anyone who loves comics and graphic novels geared towards teens and adults. Headlining are three stars in the field—Julia Wertz who has appeared in the New York Times, Harper's and the Believer, Lisa Hanawalt, the creator of the Netflix show Tuca and Bertie and the designer and producer of Bojack Horseman, and Eisner-Award winner and artist who'll be taking over the famed NANCY comic soon, Caroline Cash. Plus dozens of artists and vendors. AADL.org/a2cafsip

Then Sunday is DEAD MEDIA DAY! A celebration of bygone forms of media, entertainment, and ephemera. We'll have exhibits and hands-on activities related to physically splicing and editing film, Tintype Photography, typewriters, vintage computing, HiFi, vinyl, VHS, vintage cameras, laserdisc, and 20-ish arcade cabinets you can play with some of the best video games from the '80s and '90s!
